Project Description

Concept

Showcasing a thrilling shower experience, the experience starts with a woman showering in her bathroom, when suddenly a creature appears behind her. As it moves closer, the shadow appears to be carrying a threatening weapon and approaching from the back. She does not seem to notice and continues showering. When the ant gets closer, it appears to be a small ant carrying a razor, and when caught the ant drops the razor.

This is a fear inducing experience, combined with horror sounds and visuals.

Description

I chose the location to be in the bathroom, specifically projecting onto the bathtub area. Throwing the light onto the shower curtain and bathtub surrounding walls. This experience is a play on the bathroom thriller genre which always shows the threat creeping from behind. But what if the threat is simply an augmented ant?

Scene 1: Woman showering, door creaking sound, creature appears to be moving on the wall behind her, then disappears.

Scene 2: Woman continues showering, change in color for dark dramatic effect showing that something unpleasant is about to happen, shadow appears behind the woman and seems to be carrying a hammer, getting closer from her, as the shadow disappears an ant carrying the shaving razor appears, the ant is seen & caught by the viewer, it drops the razor, real life razor drops in the bathtub, hysterical laugh.

Assets

Video 1: Woman showering
Video 2: Water dripping from the shower
I shot the scenes of the woman showering using a Sony camera, edited the footage in After Effects, and layered the 2 videos on top of each other to preserve the waterfall from the shower.

Video 3: Ant moving
I used a still image of an ant and animated its movement on After Effects.

Video 4: Ant growing bigger + carrying hammer
I added the hammer to the moving ant video and animated it growing bigger in size as it approaches the woman.

Video 5: Ant carrying razor + dropping it
I animated this video on AfterEffects by taking a photo of the razor and combining it with the moving ant video.
